Social Talent Management involves the use of social media as an integral part of the organisation’s Talent Management practices. Jaco du Plessis from BCore defines social media as all forms of electronic communication through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages and other content.

• Information is transparent

• People have rich profiles

Common Problems in Performance Management

Bersin (2008) found the following concerns with regards to performance
management:

§ 32% of managers do not clearly understand the link between pay and
performance in their organizations

§ 85% of organizations do not have clearly defined competencies which
define success

§ 35% of managers and employees do not feel the process is implemented
consistently

§ Only 14% of organizations use any form of peer-assessment

§ Only 21% of organizations have training tied to development goals
